Cummings Plumbing Flies Flag at Half Mast
Cummings Plumbing Heating and Cooling Flies Flag At Half Mast in Remembrance of The Lives Lost and Those Affected from Sept 11th, 2001

Tucson, AZ.: On September 11th, 2001, America was attacked by an Islamic terrorist group named al-Qaeda. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured 6,000 others, and caused at least 10 billion dollars in infrastructure and property damage. Since the attack, additional people have died due to 9/11 related cancer and respiratory diseases. Four planes hijacked, four different targets marked, and thousands of lives paid the price. Time stood still that day; not just for America but all across the world. The attack was unprecedented and lives in infamy. Today, Cummings Plumbing Heating and Cooling flies their flag at half mast to remember all those affected by these attacks.

“It’s still hard to think back on the events of that day,” said Kevin Cummings, Owner of Cummings Plumbing Heating and Cooling. “I can still remember exactly what I was doing and where I was when the first announcements came out about the attacks on the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Tucson went into lockdown because of the Air Force Base and Raytheon. It’s surreal, thinking about how long ago this happened…17 years ago. Kids these days are learning about this event in textbooks…while to me, and probably most of the people who were alive when the attack happened, still remember it like it was yesterday. Today, I’m going to ask a huge favor of everyone. Take a moment to be kind. Do a random act of kindness to show love to someone today. All those lives…all those families…not one of them thought that they’d leave for work to never return. People were just going about their business. What would they have done differently, or taken the time to say, if they knew it was going to be their last? Let’s make this day count for them. Let’s take this day and remember the good. Let’s choose to remember how America came together. Let’s choose to see how we fought back as a nation. Let’s choose to see that we’re still standing here today; proud and strong. We were not defeated on September 11th, 2001. This attack had the opposite effect on our nation than intended. Instead of making us weaker, it made us stronger. Let’s never forget that.”

“It’s been 17 years and our nation is still mourning,” said Elaine Lee, Office Manager of Cummings Plumbing Heating and Cooling. “Rightfully so. Whenever I think about the live feeds of the Twin Towers, the images of bodies dropping out of the sky, the burning buildings, the final collapse…I am brought back to that day. I can close my eyes and see the pictures replay like a video montage. I remember calling family and friends…gathering together…sitting in silence. What was there to say? In all of the calm and quiet, I remember saying a prayer. Not for the lives lost but for the ones still living. I can’t even begin to imagine what they went through and are still going through. Like Kevin said, take a moment today to be nice and do something kind. Take the time to tell those you love that you love them. We live in a fruitful and great nation. Let’s ‘Never Forget’.”
