Plumbing, Sewer, Drains & More!
When you’re in need of plumber, do you know who to call?
Are All Plumbers Made The Same?
Plumbers are in short supply. As a vocational trade, plumbing is dying out as technology advances and more young people choose technology or business based career paths. This makes experienced and knowledgeable plumbers hard to come by, especially in a smaller city like Tucson.
Regardless of where technology takes us as a civilization, we’ll always need plumbers. Having running water, sewage and waste water systems, and ways to transport water will always be a necessity. For this reason, we encourage younger generations to go into vocational trades for careers. Plumbers, mechanics, and technicians will always be a part of our civilization.
A lot of the plumbing trade, although formal education is often encouraged, is learned through job experience. With your home’s plumbing being one of the largest systems, it’s in your best interest to trust it to someone who knows what they’re doing. When you’re looking for a reputable plumber to service your household, there are a few key things you should consider:
Licensed, Bonded, and Insured
Although this seems like a basic thing, not all plumbers are licensed, bonded, and insured. Insurance is one of those things that they often say, “You never understand its importance until you need it.” It’s true. You can certainly go with a plumber who isn’t licensed, bonded, and insured because they’re cheaper. Maybe everything will be fine and you may not have an issue. But what if it’s not? What if something happens and you regret going with someone who is now both unable to fix the problem but is uninsured and cannot pay to have it fixed? Sure, you can take them to court and pay for an attorney out of your own pocket…but at the end of the day, is it worth the hassle?
Time is Money
For a lot of people, their time is extremely valuable. How valuable is your time? Would you rather pay someone a little more money knowing that they have the knowledge and expertise to get the job done quickly and efficiently? Or pay someone less money to have them take longer to do the same job? This seems to always be the conundrum. You can either have the job done fast and good – which means it won’t be cheap; good and cheap – which means it won’t be fast; or fast and cheap – which means it won’t be good. What’s a priority to you?
Toilets & Faucets
It’s more than just unclogging!
Experienced plumbers will be able to tell you a lot of information about the faucets and fixtures that you currently have in your home, including lifespan. If your plumber does a thorough job, they should also do a check of your home’s fixtures and pipes to make sure everything is set up properly and that there are no leaks. This is a proactive approach to help prevent problems later on. The checks should be complimentary and shouldn’t cost you any extra money.
Experienced plumbers will do annual water heater flushes and check your entire system to make sure that everything is working properly. This is especially important because your hot water tank(s) is/are under pressure. If there is sediment build-up, if the pressure valve is not working, if there are any issues, your plumber should be able to tell you what those issues are and how to fix it. Please don’t ignore water heater issues. These should be fixed as soon as possible.
There’s more down there than hair.
When people think about drain cleaning, they think of liquid cleaner. These are very bad for your pipes because it eats at your pipes and compromises the pipes’ structure. An experience plumber will camera the drains and let you know what’s inside your pipes, what may be clogging them (whether it’s roots, debris, or something else), and what needs to be done to clear the pipes. Hydro-jetting or snaking pipes are popular options to get the gunk out.
When it comes to gas lines, you need to trust a professional who is licensed. If gas leaks, even the smallest spark can cause an explosion. Gas piping could be needed for gas dryers, gas water heaters, etc. When it comes to anything requiring gas, do yourself a favor and pay someone to do it correctly. You deserve the peace of mind of knowing that the job is done correctly. It’s not worth it to save a few dollars.
This is never a fun job.
